Harry Potter: Renegade Cop pt.1

Here's the first part of a four page comic I just finished based off of a complaint I've had since about the third book in the Harry Potter series.  Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Harry Potter fan, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's thought about this while Harry needlessly endangered his friends and family time and time again.  You'll see what I mean.

Fluffy Bunnies pt.1

This is the first in a four panel set done back in 2007 as a birthday present for my wife.  She wrote the four-line story at our mutual job before we were dating and we talked about illustrating it.  Well, I held on to it and, long-story-short, about a year or so later we were dating and I thought it would make a great birthday present.  All four panels are ink and sumi wash on watercolor board.

With Action and Suspense, Out of the Old West Comes the Most Famous Hero of Them All...

This is a pen and india ink wash  of William Boyd in his role as Hopalong Cassidy.  It was a Christmas present to my mother who loved the radio serials and television series as a kid.  Looking back, I can blame my ongoing obsession with radio drama on both Hoppy and the Lone Ranger.  When I was very young a local radio station decided to air some of the old broadcasts of both shows and my parents let me stay up to listen hoping I would love them as much as they did as children.  Well, I did and those late broadcasts have snowballed over the years into a true pulp obsession.  Hope you like it.

More Vintage Stuff

Here's a cover I made for the November 1943 issue of "Weird Detective" magazine by AGM publishing featuring the first appearance of Sam Sterling, better known as The Silver Spectre!

Sam is a character I developed a while ago who has recently found his way into the Alias: Glen Miller universe and might possibly receive his own spin-off series in season two if there ever is one.  He's a down-on-his-luck security guard and WWI vet who happens to share his body with the soul of an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh.  So there's that.  He's also currently the one stopping me from continuing work on season one of AGM because I've got too many good ideas for his story arc racing through my head.  I'm a huge fan of pulp magazine artwork by the likes of Norm Saunders and George Rozen and I felt that Sam deserved a cover of his own.  Hope you like it.

The First Post!

I'm starting this thing out with an advertisement I made for a 1940s-style audio drama my friend James and I are currently attempting to finish.  It's a "Noir-comedy" that asks the questions: "What if Glenn Miller wasn't just one of the greatest big band leaders of all time who happened to go MIA in the late days of WWII?" and "What if, instead, he was a badass secret agent that could totally kick your ass?"  The concept has been my baby for about a year and a half now and started out as an idea for a three-arc comic series.  With any luck the first episode will be complete by the end of this month with subsequent episodes every month thereafter.  However, the first installment has already taken over three months to finish when we promised each other it would be done in one so if you've somehow managed to come across the homepage and are at all excited about the project please hang in there, I promise it will be done soon.  If you've stumbled upon this blog and now you want to know more about Alias: Glen Miller then by all means head here: http://aliasglenmiller.com/ to the official site and scoff at our amatuer html skills and our inability to fix the problems in our code related to Microsoft Internet Explorer.  So on that note, please don't look at our web page with IE yet.  I'm so embarrassed...
